Ari Burling graduated with a BFA in Photography from Parsons School of Design in 1995 and has since devoted his photography practice to finished project documentation for a wide range of world-renowned architectural firms. In addition, he focuses on historic preservation assignments for both local and national conservation organizations, including state historic offices and the Library of Congress. Ari’s personal projects—notably “Green Roofs NYC”—is an ongoing and expanding archive of green roofs and green technology in New York City.
In addition to his traditional photography, Ari is a licensed drone pilot. He integrates aerial perspectives into his shoots, enhancing the storytelling of architectural projects by capturing them from both ground and sky. This approach helps to convey the full context of a building within its environment, offering a richer narrative of its design and surroundings.
